Restaurant Repeat :: LU

Seem to be on a restaurant repeat, first Apartment 1b and now Lu...

It was just a little too convenient when my friends from Hong Kong told me they were staying at Joya in Rockwell. Of course I was gonna suggest just popping downstairs to their ground floor for dinner :)

Chef's Table Manila

Another new restaurant to share! When people ask me what I enjoy doing, among the list I'm sure to say, "Trying new restaurants." Of course I like to go and eat at my favorites, but there's something about trying a restaurant for the first time that's always exciting and stimulating. You eye the menu a bit longer, gaze around to see what other people are having, and you just take in a whole new experience.

Our friend Tony invited Jon and I for lunch to celebrate Jon's birthday - and he picked the place, Chef's Table. If it sounds familiar, it should. Chef's Table is a cooking show on the Asian Food Channel starring Chef Bruce Lim. Put two and two together, and yes, this is Chef Bruce's kitchen playground. Seriously though, the open kitchen in his restaurant is the star of this stylized space. Chef's Table is Filipino cuisine done Chef Bruce style - he was born and raised in America, studied at Le Codron Bleu in London, and returned to his roots here in the Philippines. You'll really appreciate all the components of his Filipino dishes, definitely a restaurant to return to! Thanks Tony :)

ACQUA

It wasn't really my intention to switch over to Cebu posts... I'm still not done with New York! Well, I might as well finish Cebu off - after today there's only one more. Here's the Italian meal we had at Shangri-La's Acqua restaurant :)

Btw, we took left-overs to the room, us 2 didn't finish this all in one sitting...

Chunky portobello strips coated in crispy batter. AMAZING. You must MUST order a side of these!

Trenne - pan sauteed trenne pasta with braised prime rib eye, tuscan black kale & shaved parmesan
Crunchy trenne with the most tender pieces of rib eye... Really enjoyed this.

Fettuccine Belmondo - cherry tomatoes, garlic, arugula, extra virgin olive oil, Reggiano parmesan
I'm such a sucker for the tomato/garlic/olive oil combo; never fails me.

Pizza Bianco - ricotta, mozzarella, granna parmesan, garlic, rocket arugula
Seeing the chefs work and toss the discs of dough in the open kitchen lead me to believe any of the pizzas on the menu are going to be homemade delicious. This one was no exception!

Eat and Go

This batch of photos must've slipped through the cracks when I was posting all my Manila photos from Decemeber/January... While Jon and I were picking up our Imax Avatar tickets in Mega Mall, we stopped for a little bite. What else is new? We had only eaten breakfast and it was that awkward 3:30pm time where our stomachs were grumbling for some food. We landed at Eat and Go, a super fast-casual eatery that specializes in English pies. Jon got the steak + potato pie with pepper rice on the side and I got the salmon + spinach pie with marinara pasta on the side. Kind of a random place for us to stop and snack, but it filled the gap sufficiently. We ate and went at Eat and Go :)
