Back for... 2nds

Now here’s a place where you’ll be coming back for exactly what the restaurant is called - 2nds. The rustic design and down to earth vibe sets the stage for the warm, filling and comforting dishes that are found on the menu here. After all, the tagline of the place is “Comfort Food Revisited.” I feel like the comfort food concept is becoming increasingly popular, customers are looking for upscale versions of their favorite meals. Also consumers are seeking out restaurants that are priced reasonably in a casual, friendly setting.

Our stomachs were empty, so it was the perfect night to try out the dishes here at 2nds. You’ll see below that we went through quite a few plates… Finishing every last crumb and french fry! 2nds really does serve up cozy eats based on simple and familiar feel-good dishes. It is located on the second floor of Bonifacio High Street, Quadrant 3. Please do try this spot out, happy eating!

I guess our "see you later" turned out to be "later" than planned... We are literally switching continents for the exact same duration on the exact same week in August. #badtiming

Habana Nights

A new place, hooray! All this talk about the new Cafe Habana opening in Malibu, and I happen to try it for the first time in New York... Aileen and I stayed all but a minute away from the busy luncheonette. (We were on the SAME BLOCK!) This was actually our first meal in the city, after dropping of our luggage and settling into Rich's hip Nolita apartment. I'm pretty sure that if you ask anyone about Cafe Habana, they'll suggest "the corn" and I'm here to do the same. It's worth waiting to get into the cramped quarters for some fresh corn smothered in melted cheese, chili powder and lime. For sure a crowd favorite - mmmm, I want some now!

Destination: Santa Barbara.

Jon and I drove up to Santa Barbara with a couple of our friends to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of CRSVR, a dope sneaker boutique on State Street. Our friend Eric [DJ VICE] dj'd the event, as he's also a part owner of the store. Before the party started, we conveniently ate at the restaurant adjacent, Blush. Blush is a hip, sultry restaurant that doesn't deviate too far from classic comfort food. The vibe is trendy yet the food still stays grounded, just a little more "dressed up" - mac and cheese is a lobster mac and cheese and grilled cheese is a short rib grilled cheese. Mmm I love comfort food dressed up for a fun night on the town ;)

Junior's on Broadway

I finally got to try Junior's in New York! Ever since Jon and I saw the cheesecakes on Bobby Flay's Throwdown, I've been a lucky girl and received them at my front door (thanks babe!).

Since Junior's was so close to our hotel, we walked over to have our first meal of the trip :) [I'm clearly not doing these posts in order of our trip] I finally got to see what the overstuffed deli sandwiches, famous steak burgers and jumbo desserts were all about. Classic deli food that I would return to - especially 'cause of the cheesecakes!
