Kind Campaign x Fred Segal

I rarely deviate from my foodie posts on this blog -I swear I do more than just eat!- but I also like to use this space to share with you other facets of my "palette." Just less then a week ago, Kind Campaign put on a fundraiser and awareness night over at Fred Segal in Santa Monica. In fact, the event was held at ZeroMinusPlus [in Fred Segal] where Kind Campaign has an incredible installation.

Good Works Space, within ZeroMinusPlus, dedicates an empty "canvas" [read: bare room] to different non-profits throughout the year to help them louden their cause and in turn gain more awareness and funding for their respective projects. Each non-profit has free reign to turn the area into whatever they like. Kind Campaign's interactive installation is really one to check out! While you're at it, *BE KIND* and buy some tees ;)

Lauren and Molly planned a great evening dedicated to spreading the word for Kindness. I had the honor of introducing our good friend, Samantha Marq, up to the stage as she sang her debut single Super Girl. The night was a blast - great job to everyone involved!

Capo Beach, CA

The fundraiser I was referring to in the previous post was at a place called Coconuts down in Capo Beach. Definitely more events to come going forward... Jump on the Kind Wagon with us!

I came by these pictures I took a few weeks ago at Javier's Cantina. My friend Stephanie and I stopped for a quick bite before heading over to a Kind Campaign fundraiser, which was held down in OC (Orange County for the non-Cali readers). The scene was actually a bit overwhelming - lots and lots of people of all ages. From hot cougar mamas to blonde high school grads ;) Javier's is located in Newport Coast's Crystal Cove development. I guess it fills the need for upscale Mexican food overlooking the horizon. Such a fantastic view from this chic, OC restaurant. I feel like people come here to mingle, socialize, sip on margs, nibble on comida Mexicana... And who knows where the night takes them!

Meet 'n Greet

With all the +positive+ feedback Kind Campaign has been getting in the last few weeks, a celebration was called to order. Trust me, it was very well deserved! In attendance: Lauren, Molly, Chris -our new cinematographer- and myself. In fact, Molly and I had never met Chris until dinner, so it was also a meet 'n greet if you will :)

Dinner took place at the month-old restaurant and lounge, Cache. Formerly the old Hidden spot, this restaurant and garden lounge got two thumbs up from all 4 of the Kind Campaign crew. We didn't sit in the outdoor tree-lined patio, but instead in the dimly lit section with light charcoal stone walls. As we were in a bit of a camera frenzy, the "faux candle" light source came in handy as the sunny sky turned into night during the course of our lengthy meal.

We decided to share, that way we could try more from the dinner menu. There is a separate bar menu as well, but both celebrate California harvest by being seasonal and market-based. A few of our favorites from the contemporary American cuisine would be the pull-apart flatbreads and the truffle parmesan fries. I DIE. These are addictive and dangerous in large quantities. The food came all at once, which was a bit overwhelming seeing so many plates on the table - served in different phases would have been nice and a little more enjoyable. No biggie, the food was still delish and dessert was delectable! Look below for the deets!
