Married & Me
Aloha!
The Grandidge's, sans Chris, and the Deklav's escaped into Paradise for the night in Woodland Hills. The aloha spirit was very much alive at Roy's Restaurant, almost like we were on the Hawaiian islands! The ambience has that casual yet elegant vibe, all the staff are super duper friendly and you're greeted with, "Aloha!" by the hostess immediately upon entering.
The restaurant serves none other than Hawaiian fusion cuisine - there are lots of bold Asian spices used in the cooking. Owner Roy Yamaguchi has his classics on every Roy's menu alongside some specials' of partner Chef's at each location. I would say Roy's prides itself in their fresh seafood as their menu focuses on the ocean delicacies found near/around the Hawaiian waters. With that said, the meat from the beef ribs were falling off the bone and very tender indeed. So don't rule out the "land" options by any means! Although Roy's is now a well-known chain, they still maintain the fine-dining experience as they stress excellent service and deliver consistent, tasty food. Mahalo!

Lemon-Berry Cupcakes
TANGY. ZANGY. ZWEET.
If you're into the lemon X berry combo, you would for sure luuuuv the cupcakes I made last night! Despite the unusually hot weather in Malibu at the moment, summer is almost ending. The summer flavors of citrus lemon and red raspberries must be put to use before everyone is making fall-inspired treats...
The lemon pound cake turned out really well. If something's lemon flavored, I want to be able to taste that zing... I used lots of lemon zest and fresh lemon juice in the recipe to make sure of that. The shocking pink frosting is raspberry buttercream - the raspberries themselves did that to the coloring! The lemon pound cake with the raspberry buttercream balanced the tangy/sugary/tart taste of the whole cupcake, making it a delicious treat!

DoubleBerry
Another re-visit post, this time: Huckleberry Cafe.
Mom and dad were charmed the first time when they came for my graduation, and they wanted to go again last week. I've never gotten my caffeine fix at Huckleberry, but my dad will argue that their cafe latte is one of the best he's had in Los Angeles. The fam came in for a quick 'n easy breakfast, starting the day right!

Puppy X Cupcake
Cupcakes and puppies are instant "lifters" in my life (along with flowers, chocolates, cards, packages... we've been over this). If you wanna make me happy, give me a cupcake. Or even better, an adorable furry friend! *I wish*
Susan drove over to hang out with me and the boys this weekend and showed me a pic of her new puppy, Maggy May. "Wait is that a cupcake toy? Ohmygod I have to put it on my blog." So here it is: Puppy X Cupcake on Patti's Palette.

Sunday Plates
Sunday Funday.
The pics are from last Sunday's after-church lunch. Mom and dad are into the whole organic ordeal, so Plate (I've blogged about the place in previous posts) was the perfect place to take them to.
I'm up in NorCal for a mini vacay with the family, hence the slow updates and new posts. I gotta soak up the family fun!

Connect Dots Daily
Meet my good friend, Jerry. Meet his blog [Connect Dots Daily]. And lastly, meet his most recent Monday morning post [Patti Cake].
* Photo from Jerry's blog. I know what you're thinking... He totally could have taken a better pic! Oh wait, maybe it's just me.

Thai Table
Thai Beach Cuisine.
I've blogged about Cholada before, the flavorful Thai treasure trove situated on PCH. Chris and I have mentioned it a few times back home, convincing the parents that decent Thai food does exist outside Thailand. They were just in Phuket last week, so obviously the comparison was a bit weak BUT they were happy with the "cheap and cheerful" hut we like to call Cholada!
